On August 27th the EPFL Executive MBA in Management of Technology (MoT) welcomed a new set of students into its ranks. This year marks not only the launch of a revised program, but also the largest cohort ever with 36 participants.

The diverse class of experienced professionals represents 18 nationalities while women comprise an increasing portion of the team at 25%. The new MoT program kicked off with a marathon 10-day opening session that covered such subjects as creativity, leadership, teambuilding, and organizational dynamics before handing the group off to our partner HEC for the kickoff of the general management modules.
As part of the opening session, the MoT group spent two days at a mountain retreat where leadership and team interactions were put into action. As a bonus, the new class enjoyed a barbeque lunch with members of the MoT Alumni Association as a means of integrating them early on with the group that will become an important part of their professional network.

In order to accommodate the larger class size and to keep up with modern executive teaching trends, the MoT classroom was fitted with new tables and chairs and a state-of-the-art audio/visual system that projects presentations simultaneously on two adjacent walls. While increasing the capacity, the distributed seating allows for better visibility and interaction with the presenter while also facilitating the ad hoc group discussions that form a central part of executive education. This new, dynamic classroom environment goes hand-in-hand with the new program that is designed to enhance the knowledge base and hone the skills of today’s top technology managers.
