The Shanghai ranking ranks EPFL 2nd worldwide in the fields of energy sciences and engineering, areas that are especially developed on the Sion site.

This is ShanghaiRanking universities who says: EPFL is the second best institution in the field of energy sciences and engineering, the sector is particularly developed by the Valais Chairs of the Lausanne polytechnic.

Faced with competition from 500 universities around the world, EPFL ranks just behind a high school in Singapore, but do better than prestigious institutions such as Stanford University, MIT or Berkeley.

Marc-André Berclaz, operational director of the EPFL Valais cluster, does not hide his enthusiasm. He immediately disseminated the information via social networks. "This ranking shows that we are working not only in a cutting-edge field in Sion, but also in a field that is performing well."

An asset for Sion

This excellent ranking is not just a form of recognition. It is also an asset. "A ranking gives a reputation to a school, which is important when looking for professors and when setting up international collaborations," notes Marc-André Berclaz.
