Emma and Kristina presented the most recent findings of their doctoral work at the Centennial Celebration and Congress of the International Union of Soil Sciences in Florence in May.

Emma and Kristina presented their work at their first international conference. Emma's talk focused on "Evaluating Changes in Thermal Stability of Organic Carbon in Biochar-Amended Soils During Microbial Incubation" and included results from soil incubations where Emma used two thermal methods (Rock-Eval and DSC-TGA) to monitor changes in organic matter properties during microbial transformation.

Kristina presented on "Soil Organic Carbon in Swiss Alpine Soils: the Role of Microbial Community Dynamics". In her talk, she linked results from metagenomic analyses to the soil geochemical environment.
