EESD: Visiting Master students from Politecnico di Milano

Paolo Mininni and Giuseppe Sardano are Master students in civil engineering at the Politecnico di Milano working with Prof. Marco Valente. Paolo and Giuseppe visit EESD for 6 months to complete their Master project on equivalent frame models for stone masonry buildings, working closely with EESD-PhD student Francesco Vanin and EESD-post-doctoral fellow Dr Michele Godio. In a first step, they develop an automatic mesher in Rhino, which can be used in conjunction with the OpenSees model, recently developed by Francesco. In a second phase, and by a collaboration between Prof. Marco Valente and EESD, Paolo and Giuseppe will benchmark the equivalent frame model results against other modelling techniques.
