Prof. Katrin Beyer and Igor Tomić, together with colleagues from University of Zagreb, presented a project proposal to President Milanović and Minister of Culture Obuljen Koržinek. The aim of the project proposal is to develop retrofit strategies for masonry aggregates affected by 2020 earthquakes in Croatia.
Following a two-year long cooperation, Katrin Beyer, Igor Tomić, and representatives of University of Zagreb met in Zagreb to present the applied science and education project proposal. “Zagreb project”, which is a result of a hard work of a dozen of people on both the Swiss and Croatian side, aims at bringing together EPFL and University of Zagreb in developing retrofit strategies for historical masonry building aggregates affected by the 2020 earthquakes in Croatia. During their visit, they met with President of Croatia Zoran Milanović, Minister of Culture Nina Obuljen Koržinek, Vice-Mayor of Zagreb Luka Korlaet, and Swiss Ambassador in Republic of Croatia Emilija Georgieva. Following fruitful presentations and discussions, we are looking forward to a transition from project proposal to project execution.
