The laboratory of Soil Mechanics at the EPFL research team developed a constructive recommendations for optimal and reliable design of energy piles. This includes the development of a new calculation program.

Ee-news: The Laboratory of Soil Mechanics at the EPFL researched and developed methods for using geothermal energy with the existing geostructures in the soil. These include, for example, piles, which are used as building and bridge foundations in order to avoid cuts by the upper structures. Piles are used without excavation of the ground (eg piles), while the other version of the Earth's mass pile first is dug or drilled. Then pour concrete into the hole and makes her so the pile (eg-situ concrete piles). Another distinguishing feature concerns the location of a pole. One is based on rocky ground, while the other version in the background "fixed" and only lasts through the lateral resistance. More information here
