Cross-border cooperation in the electronics field: Apply now for grants for Research & Innovation projects selected in open and competitive calls for proposals
The Joint Undertaking ECSEL (‘Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership’ JU) initiative supports market-oriented joint R&D in the nanoelectronics and embedded computer systems segment between partners in European industry (including SMEs) and universities of applied science
ECSEL is a partnership between the private and the public sectors for advancing the state-of-the art in electronic components and systems. Switzerland is part of this Joint Undertaking und contributes to the call budget with co-funding from Innosuisse.
ECSEL JU opens following two concurrent cofinanced Calls:
- H2020-ECSEL-2020-1-IA-two-stage - Innovation Actions (ECSEL-IA)
- H2020-ECSEL-2020-2-RIA-two-stage - Research and Innovation Actions (ECSEL-RIA)
Both are two-stage Calls. Therefore, the submission of a Project Outline (stage 1) is mandatory. Only proposals having submitted a Project Outline and successfully passed this first stage evaluation (scored above threshold) will be allowed to submit a Full Project Proposal.
Participation
The annual calls for project proposals are aimed at SMEs, large companies, universities of applied sciences and research institutions.
Funding as % of costs:
SMEs: 50-60%
Large companies: 30-35%
Public Research Institutions: 70%

Deadlines
- Deadline for submission of IA and RIAPre-proposal: 5th May 2020 (17:00:00 Brussels time (CET)
- Deadline for submission of IA and RIAFull proposals: 16th September, 2020 (17:00:00 Brussels time (CET)
- Communication of the results: December 2020/January 2021

Swiss applicants must include the following information in "Part C" of the Pre-/Full proposal to be submitted:
- Budget template for Swiss applicants
- Brief description of institution/company for the assessment of suitability
- For companies/private institutions only: Submission of their most recent annual report
