EASA COMMONS 2023 (European Architecture Students Assembly) offers an adventurous, exciting and inspirational summer experience to architecture students.
An "informal informative meeting" will take place in the AAC 231, on Monday 13.03.2023 at 18.00.
EASA is a network for exploring alternative forms of architectural education. The annual gatherings enable participants to explore forms of architectural pedagogy outside of the traditional university context, with students taking the delivery of their education into their own hands.
Each EASA event is based around a central theme. Over the two weeks participants raise questions and investigate ideas around this, creating a wealth of shared knowledge. This shared exploration creates a context for mutualist, non-institutionalized forms of teaching, learning and exchange.
During EASA, students and professionals form a community which maintains itself – we all work, study, rest, cook, eat, clean and live together. Workshops make up the majority of the programme, with evening socials and lectures conducted by professionals from divergent spheres of activity.
In 2023, EASA’S annual gathering will be held in the Sheffield city region, under the theme of Commons. EASA will explore the social, material and theoretical implications of commonly-held resources and space in order to investigate how alternative forms of architectural practice could challenge traditional models of private ownership.
