The Jujol Chair launches the third consecutive edition of a drawing competition in honour of the architect Jose M. Jujol. Submissions until 19.05.2023.

The aim of the drawing competition is to promote the study and dissemination of the work of the architect Josep M. Jujol, through the study and representation of one of his works. For this third edition, the emblematic "Torre de la Creu" of Sant Joan Despí (P. Canalies, 14), recently restored, was chosen.

The competition, organised by the Jujol Chair of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia UPC Barcelna Tech, is sponsored by the ceramics company "ROSA GRES" and in collaboration with the town council of Sant Joan Despí, and will include two categories:

  • A Drawing of the architectural space elaborated from a visit to the site using manual, soft, watercolour, ink, mixed techniques, etc.
    The motif is free and can be exterior, interior, general, partial or detailed, etc. Visits can be arranged at [email protected].
  • B Interpretive/creative drawing of the Torre de la Creu based on bibliography, archive material, etc. by means of manual or hybrid redrawing, collage, photomontage, photography, artefact, mixed techniques, etc. A list of bibliography and links is provided at the end of the rules.

PRIZE

  • A first prize of 500 € will be awarded in each category.
  • The three best works in each category will be awarded with a ceramic specially manufactured by the company “ROSA GRES”, reproducing an original design of the Architect Jujol and a diploma for the twenty finalists.
  • The finalist and awarded works will be exhibited in the “Torre de la Creu” during the 48h OPEN HOUSE Architecture Festival in October 2023.
  • The selection committee reserves the right to make a readjustment in the distribution of the economic prizes, such as awarding ex aequo prizes or special mentions.

JURY
The jury of the Jujol Chair Drawing Competition will be chaired by its Director together with the following persons:

  • Director of the scientific committee of the Jujol Chair.
  • Director of the EPSEB or his delegate.
  • Director of the A.R. Department - U.P.C.
  • Representative of the company Rosa Gres.
  • Representative of the City Council of Sant Joan Despí.
  • Director 48H OPEN HOUSE Barcelona

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The competition is open to students of all national and international specialities and universities, who must prove their student status with a copy of the registration or certificate from the centre where they are studying. To participate in the third edition of the "Cátedra Jujol" drawing competition, you must accept the conditions of participation listed here and the basic information table on the treatment and protection of personal data of the UPC, related to the participation and management of the competition, which each participant must submit signed.

SCHEDULE
This competition will take place according to the following schedule:

  • 27 March 2023: Start of the competition
  • May 10, 2023: Deadline for receipt of mailings.
  • 19 May 2023: Deadline for receipt of entries at the Jujol Chair.
  • 1 June 2023: Publication of the selected drawings on the web.
  • 15 June 2023: Publication of the winning drawings on the web.
  • During the month of October: Award ceremony. The event and venue will be announced and publicised.
