In their latest theme dedicated to biomimicry, the RTS meets Dr. Dimitrios Terzis of the Laboratory of Soil Mechanics (LMS) at EPFL to talk about bio-cementation.

The interview traces back the steps of the young startup MeduSoil, and its co-founder, Dr. Dimitrios Terzis. He briefly explains the basis of this revolutionary technique, that retains however, its simple and practical aspects. It mainly aims to cement loose soils in order to mitigate multiple problems of the underground such as soil erosion, slope instabilities, liquefaction, reinforcement of foundations, coastal constructions, and many others. The method lends itself to a wide range of natural conditions all while keeping an edge compared to traditional methods in terms of cost, pollution and in preserving the permeability of natural terrains, leaving the underground seepage unaffected.

The interview is available (in French) on the following link.
