Dr. Dorina Thanou joined the CIS Collaboration Grant IS for medicine

The CIS welcomes aboard Dr. Dorina Thanou, who started working in November on the CIS collaboration grant on Intelligent systems for Healthcare, which primarily focuses on developing innovative AI solutions for cardiology, in collaboration with Prof. Emmanuel Abbe (SB/IC), Prof. Pascal Frossard (STI), and the cardiology department of CHUV. In addition, she will lead the development of the Intelligent Systems for Medicine and Health research pillar under CIS.

Before joining the CIS, Dorina was a Senior Data Scientist at the Swiss Data Science Centre. She got her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Communication Systems and Electrical Engineering respectively, both from EPFL, Switzerland, and her Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece. During her PhD studies, she conducted a research stay with Microsoft Research, Redmond, USA. 

Her research interests lie in the broader area of signal processing and machine learning and she is particularly interested in applying her expertise to intelligent systems for healthcare.
