Diversity Lunch series kicks off with Diversity in Teaching workshop
The Diversity Office's first Diversity Lunch series focused on "Exploring Universal Design for Learning" and was led by Jocelyn De Lima.
The Diversity Office launched a Diversity Lunch series, which focuses on discussing methods and techniques that promote, champion and encourage diversity and inclusion in professional and educational settings. The aim of the series is to engage those who have an interest in diversity and inclusion, regardless of academic, student, technical, or administrative position. The series is intended to foster discussion, learn from one another, and exchange experiences regarding diversity.
The first workshop on "Exploring Universal Design for Learning" discussed inclusive teaching methods that cater to different individuals' learning styles. A core focus was adapting principles from the Universal Design for Learning guidelines. In the workshop, participants brainstormed how their own teaching could benefit from the incorporation of these principles.
