Demolition is over, long live construction

After an intense summer period, demolition and special works are drawing to a close. The Double Deck site is now preparing to enter its construction phase.
Demolition work began on 7 July 2025 and was completed on 10 October. Thanks to extended working hours and several Saturdays on site, the schedule was optimized, allowing the dismantling of the civil protection shelter earlier than expected. The damage observed to neighbouring buildings remained minimal, and no harm was reported to equipment or infrastructure. Above all, this progress was made possible thanks to the remarkable adaptability of the entire Écublens campus community.
The special works phase — preparatory technical interventions (soil stabilization, retaining structures, micropiles…) — has now been completed, while earthworks will be finalized by the end of November. Everything is therefore ready to launch the construction of the new building. The installation of the cranes and the concrete batching plant is scheduled for early 2026, on 5 and 6 January. The Double Deck project continues to move forward in line with the established timeline.
