CRPP celebrates its 50th anniversary

1961 – 2011, 50 years of Research in Plasma Physics. CRPP held its General Meeting with all its employees and shared a standing lunch.
CRPP celebrated on May 4th its 50th anniversary. The celebration with all CRPP collaborators working on both sites (EPFL and PSI, Paul Scherrer Institut, Villigen) was preceded by the General annual Meeting of CRPP. For this occasion, the Direction presented the status of fusion research in the world and the future perspectives. After that, a number of retired collaborators joined the present staff to share a standing lunch.
The festive part was held in front of the CRPP building under a brilliant sun. Young and less young colleagues shared memories and more recent experiences in a pleasant, familial atmosphere. Among invited people, one could notice the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Basic Sciences, Prof. T. Rizzo, and of Prof. F. Troyon CRPP Director from 1981 to 1999, Dr A. Heym Vice-Director from 1984 to 1993 and Dr K. Appert, Vice-Director from 1999 to 2006. A large group of retired technicians was present, including in particular a few who participated to the first steps of CRPP!
