Course Materials Are Migrating to Exoset

© 2025 EPFL
We’re pleased to announce that our course materials are being migrated to Exoset, EPFL’s growing platform for exercises, notebooks, and course resources in mathematics and physics.
What are course materials?
Course materials are designed to support students in reviewing and retaining lecture content. They compile video content into written form, enabling note-taking, summarisation, and easy access to specific segments of a course.
Each course material document includes:
- Images from the corresponding video sequences
- Transcripts for each sequence
- Space for personal notes
- Direct links back to the related videos
- A link to a video search tool for exploring the entire video collection

These materials can be used digitally (with interactive links) or in print (with QR codes for quick video access).
What is Exoset?
Exoset is EPFL’s collaborative platform for exercises and course content in mathematics and physics. It currently hosts:
- 800+ math and physics exercises (mainly for first-year courses)
- 5,000+ quizzes, as well as notebooks and course materials
- Exercises and quizzes drawn from MOOCs and validated by EPFL teachers
Exoset offers a classified and categorized collection of exercises based on concept, difficulty, and ontology, making it a rich resource for both teaching and learning.
For teachers, Exoset provides:
- Ready-to-use resources for preparing weekly lessons and exams
- Editable LaTeX exercise files (compatible with Overleaf)
- Access to a controlled git repository for managing content
- Tools to create custom series of exercises directly on the platform
For students, Exoset offers:
- A valuable resource for exam preparation
- Exercises and quizzes from different sections and instructors
- An accessible web interface and accessible exercises
What this means for the community
Migrating course materials to Exoset will bring all related content — videos, exercises, notebooks, and written materials — together in one place. This integration will make it easier for teachers to prepare and share resources, and for students to review and practise using consistent, high-quality materials.
We look forward to seeing how this transition enhances the teaching and learning experience at EPFL.
