Congratulations to Hendrik on Passing His Candidacy Exam

Congratulations to Hendrik for successfully passing his candidacy exam, an important step forward in his doctoral research.

Hendrik’s research investigates the load capacity of gas-lubricated bearings. His work combines numerical and experimental benchmarking of existing gas-lubricated bearing technologies, with the aim of overcoming current limitations.

To support this effort, Hendrik is developing universal numerical models that guide the design and optimization of the bearings. The newly developed concepts will later be tested on a dedicated test rig, where key performance indicators such as load capacity, resistive torque, and fluid film formation will be evaluated.
