Abstract :
“The current doctoral dissertation combines knowledge from architecture, computer science, engineering informatics, and structural engineering to formulate an algorithmic framework for integrated design of timber plate structures. Within the research, the behavior of wood-wood connections is extensively investigated using physical models. Furthermore, a simplified, yet robust macroscopic modeling technique is introduced to simulate the behavior of timber shells, which can be implemented in structural engineering practice. Finally, an modular data exchange framework is introduced to integrate Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) in large-scale timber plate structures.“
