20.09.18 - DHI and the DHLAB are happy to congratulate Giovanni Colavizza for passing his PhD. After passing the private defense, Giovanni presented publicly on 28 August 2018 the results of his thesis titled “The Intellectual Organisation of History”.

In his thesis, Giovanni investigated how historians are intellectually organised into communities, and how these are evolving over time, highlighting how the digital humanities might contribute in consolidating what otherwise appears to be an increasingly fragmented discipline. Giovanni relied in part on new publication data on the history of Venice collected by the Venice Time Machine project, now accessible via a citation index: the Venice Scholar.
