The excellence of the research performed at EPFL has once again been recognized at an international level. Jones Colin has received a STARTING GRANT 2012 from the European Research Council (ERC).
Buildnet: Smart Building Networks
Mechanical engineering PATT Colin Jones won his ERC award for work on intelligent power networks that control the flow of power to and from large networks of smart buildings and the main grid. These smart building networks don’t just consume electricity, they also produce it via renewable sources such as solar panels. Professor Jones’s “Buildnet” smart building network aims to manage the interaction between the network of buildings, with their locally produced electricity as well as their power needs, and the main electricity grid.
