Charlotte and Melania published the paper entitled "Polypyrrole Electrodes Show Strain-Specific Enhancement of Photocurrent from Cyanobacteria" on Advanced Materials Technologies.
The study focused on the fabrication of a conductive polypyrrole coating to enhance cyanobacterial charge extraction for biophotovoltaic (BPV) applications. Introducing the conductive polymer coating onto graphite supports allowed a selective enhancement of photosynthetic electrons extraction from Synechocystis sp. PCC6803 over Synechococcus Elongatus PCC7942, thereby laying the framework for designing customized polymer electrodes for strain-specific charge extraction.
