Car use and cantonal specificities in French Switzerland

A study by the Urban Sociology Laboratory (EPFL) shows that 78% of Genevans living in the city center never go to work by car, compared to 61% in Lausanne. The traffic of those respective cantons is composed by 80% of Lausanne residents compared to less than 70% for the Genevans. The denser public transportation network in Geneva is one reason to explain this contrast.
