Candidacy exam at LIPID

© 2023 EPFL
In July and August 2023, Stella (Zhujing) Zhang and Hanieh Khodaei Tehrani successfully passed their candidacy exams and are now PhD candidates at LIPID.
Stella's PhD thesis will focus on the restorative benefits of Komorebi patterns, found in sunlight filtering through tree foliage in nature, and their applicability to shading solutions and views out based on their specific spatial and temporal dynamics. This thesis is supported by the Swiss SNF as part of the "Outdoors seen from inside out: Impact of views and daylight composition on our visual experience" project (2021-2025).
Hanieh's PhD will focus on drafting a transition roadmap on current regulations and potential revisions that would enable more innovations in envelope design and construction towards a better balance between ensuring well-being and minimazing ecological footprints in future habitats in Switzerland. This thesis is part of the SWICE project supported by the SFOE through its SWEET program (2022-2029).
Congratulations to both!
