CEDE Highlights OpenLearnity’s Role in Bringing Data Management MOOCs to a Wider Audience.
The launch of the Data Management Campus marks an important step in expanding access to high-quality research data management training at EPFL. While the EPFL Library led the development of the learning modules, the Center for Digital Education (CEDE) ensures these resources reach a broad audience through OpenLearnity, EPFL’s Open edX-based public MOOC platform.
By hosting the Data Management MOOCs on OpenLearnity, CEDE supports open, scalable, and secure public access to EPFL’s digital learning content. The platform provides the pedagogical and technical infrastructure required to deliver self-paced, interactive learning to both EPFL researchers and global learners interested in research data management practices.
“One of OpenLearnity’s core commitments is to make high-value academic expertise accessible beyond institutional boundaries. Hosting the Data Management Campus aligns perfectly with this mandate, allowing us to serve diverse learners while ensuring content quality and data privacy at Swiss standards,” says Annechien Helsdingen, OpenLearnity Manager.
The collaboration illustrates CEDE’s broader role in supporting the design, distribution, and long-term sustainability of EPFL’s online learning portfolio. By integrating initiatives such as the Data Management Campus into OpenLearnity, CEDE strengthens EPFL’s contribution to open education and to the development of key competencies in research integrity, reproducibility, and data stewardship.
