Bike to work 2017 hits the road

Bike to Work has only just began and already set new records for the EPFL.
Last year, 525 people participated in 149 teams. The goal for this edition is already fully met with a new record of 169 teams and more than 560 participants!
On the initiative of Sustainable Campus, all registrants were invited to celebrate together the official lauch over a meal at the Bike Center. As an introduction, Luca Fontana, our sustainable mobility specialist, has announced the many projects to come at the EPFL: the creation of 500 additional bike parking spaces by 2018, the construction of a brand new Bike Center and the deployment of a new and improved bike-sharing service.
A t-shirt is also distributed to all participants every year. For this edition and for the first time, a student from the EPFL, Jeremy Wanner, designed it after winning the contest that was launched on social networks in March. More than 200 t-shirts have been given away in less than an hour! Safety equipment was also available free of charge, as part of the road safety campaign Let's live together.
It's not too late to register on biketowork.ch.
A great thank you to all participants and, as we say at the EPFL: after the rain comes... the bike!
