Professor Cristina Benea-Chelmus, head of EPFL School of Engineering’s Hybrid photonics laboratory (HYLAB), was rewarded with the 3rd place at the 1st Women in Ultrafast Science Global Award highlighting her work in integrated terahertz devices for metrology, waveform synthesis and sensing.

This award has been established to recognize and support the inspiring contributions made by women in science and aims to celebrate achievements in the field of ultrafast science, including attosecond light sources, attosecond physics, ultrafast lasers and applications, ultrafast imaging, ultrafast spectroscopy, ultrafast diagnostics, ultrafast materials and detectors, ultrafast and terahertz photonics, ultrafast electronics, ultrafast chemical physics, and other ultrafast phenomena.

Through this event, more women and girls are encouraged to pursue academic careers in ultrafast science fields.
