After four successful experiences, the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) organizes a new edition of the competition for students entitled "Sustainable is beautiful". As an integral part of the Chamberonne renaturation project, two footbridges dedicated to sustainable mobility on the campus of the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and the Chamberonne delta are to be designed.

Beneficial to biodiversity and ecological flood management, the widening of the riverbed will affect several infrastructures located in the vicinity: the pedestrian bridge at the Château de Dorigny will be demolished, and the one located at the river delta will be maintained but no longer accessible.

The development of the site will ultimately include two new footbridges: the "Méridienne footbridge" on the UNIL campus and the "Delta footbridge" on the downstream sector of the Chamberonne. By their nature, function, and location, these two footbridges lend themselves well to an ideas competition for students, organized in collaboration with the Entreprise de Correction Fluviale de la Chamberonne and with the support of the SIA Vaud.

Chaired by Prof. Emmanuel Rey, the jury consists of representatives of EPFL, Canton of Vaud, SIA, as well as architects and civil engineers of the professional practice. The jury will have a total amount of CHF 9'000.- to be given to the awarded projects and to any mentions.
