Funding for basic, clinical, epidemiological and psychosocial research projects with distinct cancer relevance. Next deadline: 31 July 2021.

The Swiss Cancer League and the Swiss Cancer Research foundation call for basic, clinical, epidemiological and psychosocial research projects with distinct cancer relevance, contributing to new observations or knowledge on the causes, prevention or treatment of cancer. Priority is given to patient-oriented research projects. Industry-related projects are NOT supported.

Principal investigators with an independent position at a Swiss research institution and several years of research experience are invited to apply. The PI must have been successful in securing independent funding in the past, have several first author publications and at least 1 peer-reviewed article. Co-applicants must be employed at a Swiss research institution.

Research grant (max. CHF 375’000 for up to 48 months) can be used to cover personnel costs (excluding the PI’s salary), consumables and miscellaneous expenses, collateral materials and open access publications. Research grants do not cover overheads, travel and conference costs.

There are two deadlines per year on 31 January and 31 July (23:59 Swiss local time).

Note: PIs can only submit one project per round. Rejected applications can be revised and re-submitted only once. PIs can have only one ongoing grant at a time.

For further information, please have a look at the EPFL Memento, EPFL Toolkit, Information Sheet, the General Guidelines and past successful applicants.

The Foundations also offers grants to organise international scientific conferences as well as mobility bursaries for young investigators.
