Anastasia Ailamaki recognized as IEEE Fellow 2018
Professor Anastasia Ailamaki has been awarded the grade of IEEE Fellow 2018, a highly distinguished recognition given only to 0,1 % of the members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This brings the number of IC professors recognized as IEEE Fellows up to 15.
Anastasia Ailamaki is being recognized for her contributions to hardware-conscious database systems and scientific data management. The IEEE Fellowship is a distinction reserved only for selected IEEE members, whose extraordinary accomplishments in the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of this prestigious grade elevation. The total number of selected members does not exceed one-tenth of one percent of the total voting institute members in any given year.
The IEEE is the world’s leading professional association for advancing technology for humanity. Through its 400,000 plus members in 160 countries, the association is a leading authority on a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power, and consumer electronics.
Dedicated to the advancement of technology, the IEEE publishes 30 percent of the world’s literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields and has developed more than 1300 active industry standards.
“I am very happy that Anastasia’s accomplishments in the field of database systems and scientific data management are recognized with this distinction. I would like to congratulate her for her many achievements,” said Dean Jim Larus of IC School.
