An episode of the series "The Mandalorian" filmed at EPFL

Rumor had it for several weeks, it is now confirmed! After a worldwide call for proposals to find out which "iconic" and "futuristic" location should appear in an episode of the next season of the series "The Mandalorian", it is on the EPFL campus that the Disney Studios have chosen to set their cameras this summer. Why such a choice? If the "Star Wars: an EPFL Library Story" parodies may have influenced the choice of the Disney Studios, it is above all the unique and futuristic architecture of the Rolex Learning Center that sealed the choice of the Disney Studios. In addition, the proximity of Lake Geneva and the Alps, ideal for shooting spectacular battle scenes in a natural setting, reinforced the decision.

As the exam session ends on July 9, and in accordance with the constraints of the academic calendar already communicated, filming will begin on July 11, 2022. Even if there are fewer students on site during the summer period, it is necessary to take into account the impact of such a blockbuster on the daily life of EPFL students. Thus, the Library and the film crew, in agreement with Mediacom and the Presidency, have reached an agreement that will ensure minimal disruption to the few students working on site. All the shots will be taken in a maximum of 4 weeks and gathered by work areas. zones.

A call for students to be featured in the episode
For the purposes of the filming, which promises to be colossal, a call for students will be launched in the coming weeks to appear in the episode. And work on the Rolex Learning Center will begin on July 11, 2022, according to the following schedule, already confirmed by the production team and the Library:

• From July 11 to 25, 2022: Closure of the Mathematics area and transformation of the location into a space bar. A hundred of extras are needed during this period. Extras should be available from noon to midnight. Only people of legal age should be able to apply, as alcohol will be served.
• From July 18 to August 1, 2022: Closure of the Architecture are and transformation of the location into a spaceport: about fifty extras are needed during this period. Extras should be available from noon to midnight. Since some extras will be airlifted from the roof of the Rolex Learning Center, it is recommended not to be afraid of heights.
• From July 25 to August 8, 2022: Closure of the Teaching Collection area and transformation of the location into the cockpit of an X-Wing Fighter ship. Once again, about fifty extras are needed during this period. We recommend you to register to the A1 level X-Wing Fighter pilot training course organized at the Language Centre.
