This year, the Brain Mind Institute has awarded the prize for the best PhD thesis to Adrian Doerig.
In his thesis, entitled “Crowding and the Architecture of the Visual System” Dr. Doerig combined computational modelling and psychophysical experiments to study human visual processing. His work provides an outstanding contribution in the field of neuroscience.
“Adrien delivered a marvelous thesis covering more than ten of his now 14 publications. His research topics range from philosophical conscious research to mathematical work on deep neural networks. Within his main research topic, computational aspects of visual crowding, has gained international reputation and is recognized as a leader in this field”, says Prof. Michael Herzog of the Laboratory of Psychophysics, who supervised the work.
Dr. Doerig is now working at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behavior at the Radboud University, as post-doctoral researcher.
