While Switzerland is addressing the energy transition, the Energy Centrer is strengthening his team to position itself as a center of excellence on all energy-related matters. Professor Berend Smit, who took over the center in July 2014, does not hide his ambition for the Energy Center to become a world leader in its field.
Since January 1st 2015, François Vuille is the new director development of the Energy Center. Master in Physics and in Energy engineering from EPFL, he worked for 9 years as a strategic consultant in sustainable energy. Its mission is now to help the forty odd EPFL laboratories affiliated to the Energy Center to create opportunities to set-up joint research projects, identify potential partners in the public and private sectors, and support the laboratories to find market opportunities for their innovative technologies.
Meanwhile, François Vuille will help industry actors active in the energy sector to rely on the expertise of EPFL and identify needs that could benefit from a scientific added value.
On March 1st, Anne-Muriel Brouet, journalist at both Mediacom and the Transportation Center since 2012, joined the Energy Center's team as head of communication. To exploit the value generated by research lead by the Energy Center is a core element to its local, national and international renown. She will also ensure the flow of information between the Center and Mediacom.
Finally, two students of the master program "Energy Management and Sustainability", Cihan Cavdarli and Thomas Guibentif, just started their master project at the Energy Center.
