A comprehensive review just published in Nature Review Materials: all you want to know about crystalline silicon, past, present and future
An extended review covering most aspects of crystalline silicon research and industrialization has just been published by the famous journal Nature Materials Review.
Christophe Ballif, Franz Josef-Haug, and Mathieu Boccard from EPFL School of Engineering's Photovoltaics and Thin FilmElectronics Laboratory (PV-Lab) authored the paper, jointly with Giso Hahn and Pierre Verlinden. The paper allows in particular new actors to the field of photovoltaics to acquire quickly an in-depth knowledge of all facets of Silicon PV, from quartz to silicon, from cells to modules up to solar system and energy payback time, in a short time.
A must-read, for technologies which will become one of the major electricity source within the next decades. The full article can be downloaded at https://www.nature.com/articles/s41578-022-00423-2
