2nd HEAD Lab Outing!

Last week, the HEAD group took a refreshing break from the whiteboard and numerical simulations to visit Sion in the Swiss canton of Valais. The group did a scenic 'easy' hike up Mont d'Orge, where they were welcomed by the stunning view of the surrounding Alps and the local castles! The outing proceeded to a tour of the city center and a sumptuous lunch at a local Brasserie.

The trip wasn't just about hiking. The other purpose was to visit the new lab and office space of the group at EPFL Valais Wallis campus. The campus is part of EPFL's major initiative to expand research acitvities in Sion, focusing on energy, environment, and sustainable technologies. EPFL and the Canton of Valais have been developing this hub for over a decade, with new research chairs and facilities planned to strengthen Switzerland's leadership in renewable energy and clean technologies. For the HEAD group, the trip was a mix of adventure, Swiss landscapes, and an outlook into the future, a reminder that great ideas sometimes start on the trail before they reach the lab.
