    23.11.17 — IC in the news IC Master students, Paul Nicolet and Hugo Moreau, won the first prize in the blockchain competition at the Blockchain Summit – Crypto Valley 2017 in Zug last night. They left the competition with the modest first prize of 100,000 francs given for their "Shield IT" solution, a project initiated in the Laboratory for cryptologic algorithms of Professor Arjen Lenstra.     22.11.17 — Mediacom Alzheimer’s disease is caused by tangles in the brain made up of malfunctioning aggregated Tau proteins. Scientists at EPFL have discovered a new toxic form of Tau that forms as a result of its interaction with cell membranes. The research is published in Nature Communications and provides novel insights into possible mechanisms by which this protein moves in the brain and kills neurons. Read the whole article

This talented speaker described the results of his PhD research on nanowires in EPFL’s “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” contest.
