Sarah Dirren, the time of an interview for the CQFD program of RTS la Première (start at 10:34 of the recording), takes you to the Arctic aboard the Polarstern, a ship that drifts from the Fall 2019.

Prof. Julia Schmale, head of the atmospheric analysis team on board the Polarstern, is an atmospheric chemist. She heads the new Laboratory for Research in Extreme Environments (EERL) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Sion campus.

The Polarstern was voluntarily caught in the polar ice as part of the MOSAIC expedition. Its objective is to better understand the climate of the Arctic zone and its role in the revolution of the terrestrial climate.
