Tomas Robenek wins the best master thesis award

Tomas Robenek, a first year PhD student in the Transport and Mobility Laboratory, wins the price of the Best Master Thesis in the field of Operations Research from the Swiss Operations Research Society.
Every year, the Swiss Operations Research Society proposes a prize of 1000 CHF to reward an outstanding theoretical or applied Diploma Thesis in the field of Operations Research. Tomas' thesis, entitled "Integrated Berth Allocation and Yard Assignment Problem in Bulk Ports Using Column Generation" won the prize for 2013. It was carried out at the Transport and Mobility Laboratory, EPFL as his Erasmus leave from the Transport Department at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), and sponsored by the Zeno-Karl Schindler Foundation. The research was supervised by Nitish Umang (EPFL), prof. Michel Bierlaire (EPFL) and prof. Stefan Ropke (DTU).
