The Structural Xploration Lab is joining the 2017 Conference of the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures in Hamburg in this week.

The ski pavilion has been reassembled at the HafenCity University in Hamburg -- one more opportunity to showcase the ease and speed of its reassembly. Sofia Colabella and Corentin Fivet will present the design and construction of the pavilion during the Pecha Kucha plenary session on Wednesday.

Corentin Fivet is also presenting a paper on the optimization of reciprocal grids, co-authored with Gerry Ip, a former master student from MIT. Corentin is co-authoring two other papers on 3D graphic statics with PhD students from ETHZürich and UCLouvain. He will also be co-chairing sessions on graphical methods and computational design.

Jan Brütting will be presenting the results of his master thesis during the Pecha Kucha session. Held in the Stuttgart University as part of the ITECH program, the thesis treats the structural design of bending-active segmented shells.
