The LMS participated at the Fifth International Symposium on Deformation Characteristics of Geomaterials in Seoul. The event took place in Seoul on August 31 – September 3, 2011 and was organized by the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. 300 delegates from 31 countries attended the symposium.

The LMS participated with one invited thematic lecture by Prof. Laloui and Dr. Ferrari and two oral presentations in thematic sessions.

Prof. Laloui presenting the thematic lecture "Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical Behaviour of a Shale".

Dr. Ferrari introducing the new advanced triaxial cell systems recently installed at the LMS.

Suzanne Fauriel presenting the paper “Modelling transport of biogrout in soils”.

Prof. Laloui at the symposium banquet introduced the next thematic workshop sponsored by the ISSMGE that will be organized at the EPFL by himself and Dr. Ferrari. The workshop will be entitled “Advances in Multiphysical Testing of Soils and Shales”.
