The C10 section of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics has awarded the 2018 Young Scientist Prize to Michele Ceriotti, head of the Laboratory of Computational Science and Modelling at the Institute of Materials.

The 2018 Young Scientist Prize of the Commission on Structure and Dynamics of Condensed Matter of the IUPAP has been awarded to Michele Ceriotti "for his work on the development of novel and original algorithms to extend the scope and accuracy of molecular dynamics simulations, and to rationalize and predict the structure-property relations in complex materials".

Research at the Laboratory of Computational Science and Modelling, which is led by Michele as a PI, is focused on the development and application of methods to simulate materials at the atomic scale, including advanced molecular dynamics, and machine-learning schemes to obtain more accurate and insightful models of molecular and condensed-phase systems.
