The bike sharing network is expanding to the Chablais area with 45 new bikes and three terminals. Ride farther than ever!

Already covering a large area in the lemanic arc, Fribourg, Yverdon and the Tessin area, it is the first network in Valais, composed of 45 bikes spread over three terminals, one in Aigle and two in Monthey.
Among expected users are commuters, tourists and locals – the network is a welcome addition to the public transport network. Rates are identical to the rest of the network run by the Velopass company managing the majority of bike sharing networks in switzerland. The first 30 minutes are free of charge and each additional hour costs one swiss franc.

The first terminals of the network around the university of Lausanne and the EPFL have been in service since july 2009. Since then, new terminals have been opened around between the city of Lausanne and Morges to meet a high demand.

Future developement

Bike sharing networks are developing at a high rate throughout Switzerland. A second network in the city of Sion is to be put into service in november, and the towns of Brig and Visp should follow in 2011. The Velopass company hopes to open a new network in Basel until the end of the year.
