SNSF National Research Council: changes affecting EPFL members
The Executive Committee of the Foundation Council of the SNSF elected new members of the National Research Council. The National Research Council evaluates the submitted research proposals and selects the best projects for funding.
Congratulations to Professor Anna Fontcuberta i Morral, new president of the Specialised Committee International Cooperation and member of the Presiding Board.
Congratulations to Professor Annalisa Buffa, new member of the Research Council in the Programmes division (for mathematics). Prof Buffa will replace Professor Friedrich Eisenbrand from EPFL.
Bernd Gotsmann, IBM Research GmbH, is the new president of the Mathematics, Natural and Engineering Sciences division; he takes over from EPFL Professor Arjen K. Lenstra on 1 October 2020.
The Research Council comprises the following four divisions:
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Mathematics, Natural and Engineering Sciences
- Biology and Medicine
- Programmes
Three Specialised Committees are responsible for cross-divisional matters:
- International Co-operation
- Careers
- Interdisciplinary Research.
