Prof Dimitri Van De Ville gave an interview to the Swiss Radio RTS on Sept 20th to explain his research work on neurofeedback treatment of tinnitus.

The Medical Image Processing Lab (MIPLAB), in collaboration with the HUG and the Wyss Center, is using fMRI neurofeedback to let chronic tinnitus patients learn to regulate their own brain activity in auditory cortex. This method is using real-time processing of fMRI images to extract a target brain region’s activity, which is then presented to the patient under the form of visual feedback. Through operant conditioning, exploration of different strategies to influence tinnitus effects will then allow to guide to the most effective one.
