Power Electronics for Renewable Hydro Applications
Power Electronics Laboratory together with GE Renewable Energy - Hydro (Birr, Switzerland) has received funding from the CTI - Commission for Technology and Innovation. The project related to the system level optimization of variable speed drives for pumped hydro storage plants, will explore and develop range of medium voltage high power electronic technologies. Modern pumped hydro storage plants are already utilizing variety of power electronic technologies, but their ancillary service offering is still limited and can be greatly improved.
