Professor Francois Gallaire of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering has been elected as Fellow of the American Physical Society for 2019.

This honor is bestowed on less than 0.5 percent of the Society's membership each year. APS Fellowship recognizes members that have completed exceptional physics research, identified innovative applications of physics to science and technology or furthered physics education. Professor Gallaire was selected for his "fundamental contributions to hydrodynamic instability, balanced on the tripod of theory, numerics and experiments, with an emphasis on predictive theoretical understanding of vortex dynamics, droplets, coating flows, and theoretical microfluidics."
