Prof. Tobias Kippenberg in Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers

Professor Tobias Kippenberg, director of the Laboratory of Photonics and Quantum Measurements, has been included in the prestigious Thomson Reuters’ list of Highly Cited Researchers.
The list is compiled annually from the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) metrics service of the Web of Science. The ESI tracks ESI tracks papers that have been published in the last ten years and that rank in the top 1% of the most cited papers for their respective years of publication in each of the main subject fields.
From this cohort, Thomson Reuters analysts identify author names listed on multiple reports within each ESI field. This translates to just over 3,000 names from more than 9 million researchers worldwide. The analysts then build the Highly Cited Researchers list, which is currently one of the world’s standard metrics tools used to evaluate research output.
The 2016 list includes nine EPFL scientists, with the majority from its School of Basic Sciences.
