A comprehensive description of most natural phenomena, geomorphological and geological features (such as landslides) can only be achieved by combining relevant information at a large spectrum of scales, from the overall shape of the landslide down to the detailed folds of the accumulation area.

Using high-resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEM), we applied wavelet modeling and generalization processes to produce a systematic set of successive B-spline and related wavelet parameters. Geological features may then be identified and extracted from different decomposition levels through a filter bank.
