Michael Pereira, PhD from the CNBI, joins the team of Professor Olaf Blanke at the Laboratory of Cognitive Neurosciences

Michael Pereira is one of the new additions to the LNCO team. His current research is in the field of tactile perception in both healthy individuals and patients with chronic tremors, with the main goal of identifying the early correlates of conscious tactile perception. For this, he works with EEG, deep brain stimulation, LFP recordings and single unit data.

He obtained his PhD in Neuroscience at the EPFL (Lausanne, Switzerland) in 2017, mentored by Professor José de Millan. During his time there, Michael studied correlates of error monitoring during both discrete and continuous tasks, using mainly EEG, intracranial recordings and fMRI.

Prior to his PhD, Michael had an engineering-focused background with a Master’s in Telecommunications and two years of work with Sony in signal processing and machine learning.

Welcome to the lab!
