As of June 2020, Prof. Gaétan de Rassenfosse has joined the scientific advisory board of the Observatoire des Sciences et des Techniques (OST), which is part of HCERES, a French independent administrative authority responsible for the evaluation of higher education and public research.

Science and technology observatory (OST)

The Science and Technology Observatory was founded in 1990 and has been a department of Hcéres since 2015. Its analyses inform the strategic thinking of stakeholders in higher education and research and contribute to evaluation of the impact of public policies. Its work includes: regular production of indicators and analyses on research in science and technologies, analyses in support of Hcéres evaluations, conducting specific projects and responding to external orders.
HCERES
The High Council for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Hcéres), created by in 2013 relative to higher education and research, has replaced the AERES as from November 2014.
Hcéres:
  • has an independent administrative authority status, preserving evaluations’ impartiality of the influence from evaluated parties or any other stakeholders;
  • makes all of its evaluation reports accessible to the public and also publishes its evaluation methods and procedures in complete transparency;
  • acts in accordance with the international standards and European Standards and Guidelines (ESGs).
