MATH welcomes two new Professors, Xue-Mei Li and Martin Hairer

Xue-Mei Li will be head of the Chair of Stocastic Analysis. Her work focuses on stochastic differential equations, diffusion operators, stochastic dynamical systems and manifolds. She has made significant contributions to the geometric analysis of stochastic processes on differentiable varieties, as well as to Malliavin calculus and infinite-dimensional analysis.

As part of her work at EPFL she will teach a course called Topics in Stochastic Analysis to master students in mathematics in Spring 2023.

Martin Hairer, laureate of the 2014 Fields Medal, will be the head of the Chair of Probability and Partial Differential Equations. His fundamental contributions introduced a radical new way of constructing solutions for certain nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations which are of great importance in particular physics.

As part of his work at EPFL he will teach a course called Introduction to Stochastic PDEs to master students in mathematics in Spring 2023.
