Interview of Prof. Emmanuel Rey on sustainable neighborhoods
The last edition of the magazine "equiterre info" is devoted to sustainable neighborhoods highlighting the central role of this intervention scale for urban and territorial sustainability. The article presents several examples, tools and advices from experts, including the one of Prof. Emmanuel Rey from the Laboratory of Architecture
Amongst the challenges in creating sustainable neighborhoods, the issue of consistency of a spatial concept is centralin the process of project development. "In a sustainable neighborhood which fits by definition in the optic of urban densification, a balance is to be found between the questions of mobility, density, diversity, efficiency and quality of life of users. By a global and interdisciplinary oriented approach, architecture can become a source of optimization for sustainable criteria and a driving force for the integration of creative and innovative devices with a specific environmental or social nature" underlines more particularly Prof. Emmanuel Rey.
